Pierce Bush

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pierce George Mallon Bush (born March 15, 1986) is the nephew of President George W. Bush, son of Neil Bush and Sharon Bush, brother of Lauren and Ashley.

Bush gained national attention[1] after writing a letter to the Houston Chronicle regarding the Dubai Ports World controversy:

What kind of message is being sent to the American people when political leaders from both parties are trying to halt a transaction that would hand over London-owned American port operations to an Arab-owned company?
The message is both ignorant and offensive.
Leaders are trying to block the transaction because they claim the deal raises serious questions regarding the safety and security of our homeland. The only serious question this proposal raises for me is how racially prejudiced is Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and the others who are trying to block the deal?
Do these people honestly believe that a company should be discriminated against simply because it is owned by Arabs? This company has a proven safety record and at the same time is owned by a country that is a loyal partner in our war against terror.
If these leaders believe that all Arabs pose a potential security threat, then we truly have not moved that far away from racism. I am deeply saddened by our ignorant lack of progress.

Mr. Bush has appeared on television and in mass media several times. An appearance on NBC's Today Show, when he defended his uncle's position on the Dubai Port Deal, gained especial notoriety on the Internet, as his physical resemblance to George W. Bush combined with his laid-back teenage demeanor struck many as almost a parody of the President. [2]

Pierce Bush's other media appearances include four performances on Larry King Live. Larry King went as far as calling Bush his "young discovery."

Bush attended The Kinkaid School in Houston, Texas. He lives in Austin and currently attends The University of Texas, to which he transferred from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Bush is a member of the service group Silver Spurs at the University of Texas.
