Pingtung City (traditional Chinese: 屏東市; Hanyu Pinyin: Píngdong shì; Wade-Giles: P'ing-tung shih; Taiwanese: Pîn-tong-chhī) is the capital of Pingtung County, Taiwan (Republic of China).
Pingtung is located in Pingtung County which is the southern most county in Taiwan. It is located East of Kaohsiung and Fengshan. The city is centered between the Western coast and the Eastern mountain range. Summers tend to be scorchingly hot and the winters are fairly cool, it never snows. The local Taiwanese consider Pingtung a suburb although it is very developed and dense by Western standards.
