Farm Podcasting
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Farm Podcasting is the process of making audio and/or video files that contain farm information available for Web access subscription via an RSS feed that allows the subscribers to capture the file on their computers and digital audio/video players. It is the online version of farm broadcasting that uses traditional media outlets.
The term was coined during the annual Washington Watch program conducted by the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB) by Chuck Zimmerman of ZimmComm New Media in a question he posed to US Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns. The term is also documented on the Ag Documentation Center website.
The term was coined to identify a program that is produced exclusively as a podcast on the subject of agriculture.
The National Association of Farm Broadcasting has changed their membership eligibility requirements in an effort to entice farm podcasters to become members. There are now multiple companies who specialize in farm podcasting and are producing regular programming targeted to farmers and the general public on the subject of agriculture.
