Polkowice pronunciation  (German Bolkwitz, Polkwitz, 19391945 Heerwegen) is a town in south-western Poland with more than 28,000 inhabitants (2004).

It is situated in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (since 1999), and was previously in Legnica Voivodeship (1975 – 1998). Polkowice is among the richest cities in Poland and has been designated as the best administered Polish gmina on a couple of occasions. The relative success of a city is also due to fact that Polkowice is located in the industrial copper-mining area, with a copper-processing plants located in the Polkowice powiat.
