Positive Black Soul

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Positive Black Soul (aka PBS) is a hip-hop group from Senegal.

It was launched in the early 1990s when rival rappers Awadi and Doug E. Tee agreed to pursue their common goal of promoting their pan-African ideology through music. Their sound was influenced by Baaba Maal's fusion of modern rhythms and traditional instruments.

They were strongly involved in Senegalese political campaigns and the affirmation of native wrestling as a legitimate form of popular culture.

Their main hit outside of their native country is "Def Lo Xam (do what you have to do)".
