Premier Pageants

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Premier Pageants is a company that produces official preliminary pageants to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA competition.

The pageants are independently conducted and produced by Rhonda Garrett Gilliam, and now encompasses three states. Gilliam started with the Miss Alabama USA and Miss Alabama Teen USA pageants in 1993, and Arkansas (Miss Arkansas USA and Miss Arkansas Teen USA) and Mississippi (Miss Mississippi USA and Miss Mississippi Teen USA) joined the group in 2002. Gilliam has recently become the official photographer for her titleholders as well as their producer and director.

The group has been somewhat successful, although not the extent of Vanbros or RPM Productions, other state preliminary groups. Alabama, Premier Pageants' first state has been the most successful, with two semi-finalist placements, one finalist placement, one second runner-up and one first runner-up. Jina Mitchell, Miss Alabama USA received the Miss USA pageant's highest ever gown score in 2000. Both Mississippi and Arkansas have placed once since joining Premier Pageants. Both placements occurred at the Miss USA 2005 pageant, when Jennifer Adcock of Mississippi placed in the finals and Jessica Furrer made the semi-finals, that state's first placement since 1982.
