The Presidential Standard

The Presidential Standard is the flag of the President of Ireland and consists of a silver stringed gold harp, and is similar to the harp on the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Ireland, and is on a St. Patrick's Blue background. It is probably a Gaelic harp. The standard is flown over Áras an Uachtaráin, the presidential palace in Dublin, when the President is in residence or in vehicles used by the President.

As with other presidential and Royal Standards, it is never flown at half mast. One difference however, is that the standard never takes precedence over the flag of Ireland, whereas the Royal Standard takes precedence over the Flag of the United Kingdom. The standard was introduced on February 13, 1945.
