Prom-ise Her Anything

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Prom-Ise Her Anything is an episode of the Warner Brothers series Tiny Toon Adventures. It features Buster Bunny, Babs Bunny, Plucky, Hamton J. Pig, Shirley the Loon, Fifi La Fume, Montana Max, Elmyra Duff, Dizzy Devil, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and even the Taz-Manian Devil.

Acme Looniversity announces it is holding a prom for its students. Plucky quickly hits it off with Shirley, Max is captured by Elmyra, and a shy Hamton manages to win over Fifi (and their relationship will last throughout the entire show!). An expectant Babs is perplexed at why Buster does not jump at the opportunity to ask her to be his date and she subsequently goes insane while waiting for him to make a move. It turns out that Buster doesn't know how to dance and resolves to study the dancing routines of his idol and mentor Bugs Bunny, even though Bugs himself tells Buster that his old "fool the hunters" steps are not "ballroom rooms". Once Buster feels confident enough in his handling of Bugs' moves, he goes and asks Babs to be his date; initially angry with the delay, Babs melts into a euphoria of happiness and relief once Buster officializes his intentions (he is helped in this by giving her a flower and utilizing Little Sneezer as a saxophone player).

"Prom fever" grips Acme Acres, with the Taz-Manian Devil presenting "Crazy Taz's Tuxedoes" (this segment ends with Taz being put in a straight jacket and hauled away by Bugs and Daffy, dressed as mental institute workers). Buster goes to pick up Babs' the night of the prom and loses his usual self-control and cool when he sees how nice Babs looks, breaking down into a series of nonsensical babbling and blubbering (Babs advises the female viewers that turnabout is "fair play").

At the actual prom all seems to be going well until Hamton mentions how good the food is, which prompts the arrival of Dizzy Devil, who begins consuming all the food in sight (as food equals "party" in Dizzy's mind). Buster tries to resolve this by telling Dizzy that single boys are not allowed at the prom; Dizzy responds by introducing Mitzy, his very beautiful human female date. Buster, Plucky and Hamton can't help drooling over the sight of Dizzy's gorgeous girlfriend; Shirley and Fifi are so jealously enraged that they whack their respective dates with mallets. Off to the side, a glam Elmyra is still waiting for Monty (Montana Max); her sadness moves Buster and Babs to pity and they resolve to apprehend Monty (who is hiding on a Caribbean island) and bring him to the prom so that Elmyra can have her fun. Monty initially treats Elmyra badly, but in the end he too is moved to feel sympathy for her and apologizes.

Buster and Babs gear up for their own dance, but Buster makes a fool of himself when he launches into Bugs' old dance numbers, embarrassing Babs and drawing stares from confused onlookers. Bugs, as the dance chaperone, steps in and bails Buster out by doing the dance number with him. The other students are impressed and begin imitating them; Babs quickly forgets her embarrassment and happily joins in.
