Born in 1968 to American music legend Quincy Jones and Swedish top model Ulla Andersson, Quincy III moved to Sweden at the age of 4 with his mother and older sister Martina Jones.

Quincy grew up in a suburb south of Stockholm. He has described his upbringing as difficult. The break up of his parents' marriage and poor financial investments on the part of his mother were causes of instability. He rarely saw his father and witnessed his mother's struggle with substance abuse.

He currently lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife and two children.

While in his early teens, Quincy discovered breakdancing. Quincy is regarded as one of the pioneers of the Swedish hip hop scene. He took the pseudonym Snoopy and together with Karl Dyall he had a hit with the Rap song "Next Time" in 1986. The song was taken from the soundtrack of the cult movie Stockholmsnatt in which Quincy played the one of the lead characters. By the age of 16, he had earned his first gold record.

At the age of seventeen, Quincy decided to relocate to the United States. There, he briefly attended his father's alma mater, the Berklee School of Music. However, as the school did not offer what Quincy was looking for musically, he dropped out. He moved to the Bronx, where he lived with his friend T La Rock. Quincy practiced and perfected his craft at Power Play Studios with future Hip hop legends like Rakim and KRS-One.

Within 7 years he had established himself as a respected producer and changed his pseudonym to QD3. He created tracks for many artists, including LL Cool J, Too Short, Ice Cube, Mack 10, Westside Connection, K-Dee, Lench Mob, Tech N9ne and Tupac Shakur. He has also scored films and television shows, including The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Menace II Society.

QD3 has also produced a number of successful Hip-hop documentary films such as Thug Angel, The Freshest Kids, Beef, Beef II, Beef III, and the soon to be released Beef IV.

  • QD3 and Casey Suchan produced the 2002 documentary film Thug Angel about Tupac Shakur.
  • The first letter his parents received after he was born came with a $5000.00 bond from family friend Frank Sinatra. The letter read; "Dear Quincy Delight Jones III, WELCOME! And let Uncle Frank start your college fund with the hope that you will find friendship, knowledge, and happiness in what will no doubt be a far better world. Love, Francis."
  • Received his first Emmy nomination in 1999 for the Eddie Murphy show The PJ's.
  • One of his half-sisters is actress and recording artist Rashida Jones.
  • QD3 recorded and co-produced the Grammy winning album Back on the Block with his father.
  • For years QD3 was unable to find the master of one of the most popular Tupac Shakur songs, Soon As I Get Home. This made it impossible to be remixed. However, in late 2005, someone from Shakur's estate found the two-track master in a closet. The original version of the track emerged on the latest posthumous release, Pac's Life, the only track on the album not remixed.
