RTL KLUB

RTL KLUB is a Hungarian TV channel which began broadcasting in 1997. It was one of Hungary's first commercial TV channels and was only two days after the main rival TV2 to begin broadcasting.

Since its start RTL KLUB focuses to gain viewers from the urban population. Airing programs mostly for younger (18-39) people.

RTL and TV2 aired two similar major reality series simultaneously. While TV2 purchased the rights of Big Brother RTL KLUB produced its own series called Való Világ. (Real World). Való Világ was on for 3 seasons (the station currently developing the 4th). Since its second season the show was much more successful than the rival Big Brother.

Until the fall/winter season of 2005-2006 RTL KLUB was way more popular channel in Hungary than the others. Since this season TV2'd started to air fresh and progressive shows (like Desperate Housewives). The ratings show that RTL KLUB loses its lead. RTL KLUB is owned by RTL Group.
