Radio Sport's news is provided by its in house journalists and has bulletins every day from 6am, with the final bulletin at 11pm. During the weekday breakfast show, sports news is also on the half hour with a quick news headlines wrap at the end of the half hour bulletin.

The sports bulletin precedes the general news, on the hour, coming from Newstalk ZB, its sister station and one of the largest radio news operations in New Zealand.

Sports headlines are also presented at around :15 and :45 past the hour, between 6:00am and 3:00pm, and also from 4:00pm till 6:00pm.

Sports talkback has been the main focus of the station, along with sports commentaries since it began in 1998. There is no opt outs, apart from ads, with the entire country taking the same programming.

Radio Sport's programming is lead by its breakfast programme, the Tony Veitch Sporting Breakfast. The programme is presented by ONE News sports presenter Tony Veitch, since late 2004, who took over from Martin Devlin who moved to Radio Live. Every half hour the show provides sports news updates. The programme relies on interviews with sports news makers and correspondents including ex-pat New Zealander Murray Olds, former All Black Justin Marshall and former New Zealand cricketer turned broadcaster Ian Smith. The show is often irreverent and highly opinionated and runs from 6am-9am Monday to Friday. In 2007, the show will be co-hosted by former Australian netball representative Kathryn Harby-Williams.

The morning slot is hosted by Brendan Telfer, a 30 year veteran of New Zealand sports broadcasting, having covered many Olympic Games for TVNZ. A large portion of the show is devoted to golf. Each morning Brendan talks to a sports reporter from the 5 major newspapers in New Zealand about what is featured in their paper that day. Brendan is the only remaining host since Radio Sport began. The show runs from 9am-12pm Monday to Friday.

During the afternoons, between 12:00pm and 3:00pm, D'Arcy Waldegrave presents a talkback programme, focusing on the issues of the day. From 3:00pm till 4:00pm, time is devoted to different issues including a sport and health show and a popular show called Off the Record, which is an hour-long biography-type show, involving sports personalities.

For two hours between 4:00pm and 6:00pm Willie Lose presents a programme mainly based on interviews with the news-makers of the day. He also talks to correspondents, including TV3's Sports Tonight host Howard Dobson.

Highlights of the day on Radio Sport, featuring interviews conducted by other hosts. This show is co-ordinated by Matt Gunn and runs from 6:00pm until 7:00pm.

At 7:00pm, Murray Deaker, Peter Montgomery or Willie Lose present a Newstalk ZB sports talkback show, which is simulcast on Radio Sport.

Between 8:00pm and 9:00pm, Kent Johns hosts a spotlight on different minor sports, then for the final three hours until midnight hosts talkback.

From the channels inception until mid-2006, the 12:00am to 6:00am timeslot was filled with a feed from American sports stations through the internet, however this is no longer provided by the American stations and the slot is now filled with a direct feed from sister station Newstalk ZB.

Saturday and Sunday mornings are dominated by sports discussion discussions on hobbies and personal life. Geoff Thomas presents the Saturday Morning Fishing Breakfast between 7:00am and 8:00am on Saturday mornings, then Phil Gifford hosts The Front Row Rugby Show from 8:00am till 10:00am when Doug Golightly takes over with The Saturday DugOut. On Sunday morning, Kevin Hart hosts a breakfast show aimed at country people, a replay of the Newstalk ZB programme SportsWorld is played, followed by former New Zealand cricketer John Morrison hosting two hours of talkback.

During the afternoons, between 12:00pm and 6:00pm, Murray Deaker, Peter Montgomery or Willie Lose present ScoreBoard, a combination of live sports updates and commentary and sports-related talkback. The programme includes interviews with major New Zealand sports people.

On public holidays, there is usually no Sporting Breakfast, instead a variation of New Zealand Sport Today hosted by Barry Holland is aired. Following that, talkback with either Doug Golightly or John Morrison. Followed by a special holiday edition of Scoreboard. Usually instead of Night Sport, there is a feed from Newstalk ZB.

On Christmas Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, a feed from Newstalk ZB is played all day.
