The game begins with Rayman taking a nap, only to be captured by insane bunnies who lock him up in a cell. When Rayman comes to his senses, he notices his hands are missing. With Murfy's help, he retrieves his hands and escapes the prison.

Soon, Rayman's fairy friend Ly appears and tells him about the bunnies. According to her, they used to live happily and acted innocently. Their kind nature led other creatures to make fun of them and always give them a hard time. The bunnies then fled underground, and have only now resurfaced to have their revenge against everyone. Rayman is the world's only hope to stop them.

Rayman can use a number of different powers (in the form of costumes) that allow him to get through hazards he can't do in his normal appearance. These include Hip Hop, Punk, Elvis, Granny, and Disco. Hip Hop allows Rayman to stomp the ground and break floor barricades. Punk allows Rayman to spit globs of gum at enemies and to create trampolines made of gum. Elvis allows him to move heavy objects with his guitar. Granny allows him to trick cameras and Rabbids with the innoncent appearance of a grandmother. Finally, Disco allows Rayman to attack with blasts of energy that can damage enemies his fists cannot.

There are five worlds in this game. They seem to be heavily based off the original Rayman game. The first world is Toy Land, which is very similar to Picture City from the original game. There are pencils, books, dolls, toy cars, Lego, tennis balls, nails, jigsaw pieces and much more here. Then comes the forest world, which is similar to Dream Forest from Rayman 1. There are flowers and vines here. The piranhas and flying mallets look exactly the same as in Rayman 1 here. Plus, the Plums return here, which strangely have quiet a bit of focus in the Rayman series. Then the Organs Cave is next, which is based on Caves of Skops. There are rivers of stomach acid, DNA ladders, floating organs, goo monsters and lots more here. After that is the Cake Land, which is very similar to Candy Chateau. This place has raspberries, liquorice platforms, chocolate tunnels and even icing-coated ground. The boss level for this world is the hardest level in the game. The final world is Rabbid Land, a dark underground place with cobwebs, spikes, police bunnies, robo-bunnies, zombie bunnies and slime. The second level in this world appeared as the 'tutorial' level in this game. The second last level of this world is very similar to the flying levels in Rayman 1, where you must collect Blue Lums in order to fly to the end with your super helicopter power. In the last level of the game you must fight the bunnies giant robot by flying up to its face-level and punching it in the eye five times. After that, you win the game and Ly will congratulate you.
