Read It And Weep (previously titled How My Private, Personal Journal Became A Bestseller) is a Disney Channel Original Movie which premiered on July 21, 2006. It is the 66th DCOM and is based on the novel by Julia DeVillers. Sisters Kay Panabaker and Danielle Panabaker star as Jamie Bartlett and her alter ego Is. Both sisters have starred in previous DCOMs, Kay in Life is Ruff, and Danielle in Stuck in the Suburbs.

Read It And Weep begins with a teenage girl known as Jamie Bartlett writing in her journal. Jamie has three best friends named Connor, Lindsay and Harmony. She is very good at writing and creates a journal in which she styles herself as "IS", a popular girl with a personality opposite of her own, and writes about all the kids at school. After she accidentally turns the journal in for an English assignment, it wins a writing contest. Jamie becomes increasingly materialistic and critical of the world around her, quitting her job at her father's pizza place, ridiculing her brother's guitar playing and favouring her new fame and success over her friends. She gains success and popularity, until she reveals on a television interview that the evil antagonist of her novel is based on Sawyer, the ex-girlfriend of her crush. As the rest of her high school discovers that the book was based on Jamie's more negative feelings towards the school, she wishes to restore her relationships but her friends are unwilling to trust her again. Finally, at the school dance she apologizes publicly and all is forgiven. Jamie then asks Connor for forgiveness and they share a kiss.

• In the movie, Sawyer has short brown hair but Myrna has medium-length blonde hair in the journal in the movie; in the book, Sawyer has long blonde hair.
• In the book, Harmony lives part-time in the city, and part-time in the suburbs. In the movie she lives in one place.
• In the movie, Lindsay has dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes. In the book, she has light skin, red hair, and blue eyes.
• In the book, Lindsay is constantly upset with her weight, yet in the movie this is never mentioned.
• In the book, Harmony has dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes. In the movie, she has light skin, green eyes, and red hair.
• In the movie, Connor's last name is Kennedy; in the book his last name is Griffin.
• In the book, Connor has brown hair, yet in the movie he has blond.
• In the book, Connor is the new kid, yet in the movie he is already friends with Jamie in the beginning.
• In the movie, Jamie uses her laptop to write her book. In the book, she gets her laptop after she writes the book.
• In the book, Jamie didn't kiss Connor.
• In the book, Jamie has a sister named Allie, but in the movie she has a brother named Lenny. In the scene when Jamie was deleting friends off her list of online friends, one of their names was Allie.
• In the book, Jamie calls her story "IS", but in the movie, she calls it, "IS Saves the World".
• In the movie, there was a school dance with an underwater theme. In the book, there wasn't a school dance.
• In the book Jamie kisses Marco; in the movie she didn't kiss him.
• In the book Marco and Sawyer pretended to break up so Sawyer would get famous because of Jamie; in the movie, Sawyer and Marco broke up for good.
• In the book Jennifer 2 didn't make the cheerleading squad and was going to runaway to San Francisco with an older man she met in a chat room; in the movie, the results of the cheerleading tryouts were not mentioned. The man in the chatroom was also not mentioned, possibly because this might upset younger viewers.

• Julia DeVillers, the author of the book from which the movie was made, has a cameo in a pizza parlor scene.
• It was filmed at Murray High School in Murray, and also in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, which is where High School Musical was filmed. Nick Whitaker was also in High School Musical, where he plays the tone-deaf auditioner Alan.
• Nick Whitaker performs the song I Will Be Around at the Deep Blue Sea Dance.
• Jordan Pruitt was considered for the role of Jamie Bartlett, but she didn't get the part. They liked Jordan so much though they had her make a music video for the movie.
• Read It and Weep premiered on Disney Channel Asia on October 8, 2006, on the Family Channel on November 17, 2006, and on Disney Channel UK on March 9, 2007.

• The movie was added to iTunes on April 3, 2007 for the price of $9.99.
• In real-life Marco's last name is Vega and in Jamie's journal his last is Vincent. Vincent Vega is a character from Quentin Tarantino's movie Pulp Fiction.
• Before Jamie runs out after Connor, the floor is covered in protest flyers and seaweed. The whale is also hanging by its rear cables. After Jamie and Connor return to the dancefloor, the whale is back in its original position and the floor is clean.
