Revolution Song

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Revolution Song" is an unreleased song by British band Oasis written by guitarist and main songwriter Noel Gallagher. It was written for Oasis' 2000 album Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

A bootleg of demo sessions recorded for this album was leaked onto the Internet in January 2000. Most of these songs were recorded by Gallagher with the help of a couple of friends in his home studio at Supernova Heights and at Oasis' own Wheeler End Studios complex in 1998 and early 1999. Due to a lack of reference material on the leaked copy, this song was given the unofficial title of "Solve My Mystery".

Gallagher made the following comments in an interview for the February 23, 2000 edition of Melody Maker magazine:

We did have one track which didn't go on called "Revolution Song". It was demoed two years ago and it's an out-an'-out gospel song, but not in the sense that 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' by U2 is a gospel song. I think it's a really, really good song. We were going to have the full-on gospel choir singing it until fucking Blur put out "Tender" and then we went, 'fucking bastards!'. That'll have to wait for the next one. They always nick our ideas!
