Robert Koren (born September 20, 1980) is a Slovenian football midfielder who currently plays for West Bromwich Albion in the English Championship.
Before transferring to West Bromwich Albion in January 2007, Koren was one of the most highly rated players of the Norwegian Premier League, many regarding him as the best foreigner in the entire competition. Koren was the definitive playmaker for Lillestrøm, and has often been compared to his former idol Zlatko Zahovič.
Before transfering to Lillestrøm in 2004 he played for NK Publikum, NK Dravograd and NK Radlje in his home country. He has been capped 21 times for Slovenia, scoring 1 goal, and played 12 matches for their for under-21 team.
Before moving to West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer, he was linked with a move to another English Championship club, with Leeds United rumoured to be interested, as well as Manchester City of the English Premiership.
As of January 4th 2007, Koren signed for British club West Bromwich Albion, currently in the championship, in a Bosman ruling, penning an 18 month contract, with a futher year's option in the club's favour. He made his debut in the Baggies' 3rd round FA cup tie against Leeds on January 6th 2007.
