Rogun Dam

Rogun Dam is a rock- and earth-filled dam across the Vakhsh River in southern Tajikistan. At 335m (1100 ft.), it is the highest dam in the world. Construction began in 1976 and was 'largely' completed by 1990. Incidentally, the world's second highest dam, Nurek Dam, is also located across the Vakhsh River in Tajikistan.
