Russell Contreras

Russell Conteras is a multimedia journalist who works for the Boston Globe. Born in Houston, Texas, Contreras began his career in journalism as a free-lancer in Houston, later working for the Houston Press and Conroe Courier. After graduating from the University of Houston, he went to Columbia University to receive an MFA in Creative Writing. While living in New York, he began working for the Associated Press and later moved to New Mexico to work for the Albuquerque Journal as the paper's education reporter.

At the Globe, Contreras creates audio slideshows and audio stories to run with the paper's website, boston.com. He is also host of the weekly podcast on minority issues, Across the Divide.

Contreras currently lives in Chelsea, Massachusetts with Tupac the Dog.
