Russell Investment Group

Russell Investment Group is an investment services company based in Tacoma, Washington. It manages more than $200 billion in assets directly and is consultant to firms worldwide that collectively manage $2.4 trillion in assets. Russell also publishes 24 U.S. stock market indices as well as Japanese equity indices. Their most famous indices are the Russell 1000, Russell 2000 and Russell 3000 Indices, which monitor publicly-traded US large- and small-cap companies and the largest 3000 corporations, respectively. It also offers retail and institutional mutual funds. The company broke new ground in January 2007, launching a range of global indexes and the Russell Global 10000, making it the largest daily equity based index available to investors.
Founded by Frank Russell in 1936 as a Tacoma brokerage, the Frank Russell Company, Russell first began its investment consulting business in 1969 with J.C. Penney as its first client. It created its first indices in 1982.
In 1999, Russell was purchased by the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee.
In 2003, it changed its name from the Frank Russell Company to the Russell Investment Group.
Russell Investment Group manages numerous funds, globally across many asset classes with a Manager of managers fund approach.
Russell operates in 44 countries with principal offices in New York, London, Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney, Auckland and Toronto in addition to the Tacoma headquarters.
