SM North EDSA is currently the 2nd largest shopping mall in the Philippines and is owned and operated by SM Prime Holdings under the management of Henry Sy, a Chinese immigrant to the Philippines.

As the name suggests, the location of the mall is at the intersecion of North Avenue and EDSA, in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

The mall was inaugurated in November 1985, the first mall to opened by SM. It was built on 161,000 square meters of land. It has a gross floor area of 351,800 square meters that spans through 16 levels in 4 different buildings. The mall boasts about hundred retailers, service shops, and dining outlets, while its 12 digital film theatres have a combined seating capacity of 20,000. Its outdoor and indoor parking areas can accommodate about 3,000 cars.

SM North EDSA is the busiest and most populated mall as it is situated where 3 major arteries of Quezon City -- EDSA, North Avenue and West Avenue -- meet. It is the top grosser cinemas and supermarket for many years. The three-storey Main building overlooks this intersection and houses 8 of SMNE's 12 cinemas, a Foodcourt, the SM Department Store and the SM Supermarket. Flanking it are three annexes: to the west is The Annex, north, The Carpark and to the east is Annex 3/The Block.

SM Supermarket North EDSA is the First Leading Supermarket in the Philippines. Located in the Ground Floor of the SM Main building infront of Goldilocks, Starbucks and French Baker. It is also the most profitable supermarket in the Philippines and SM's No. 1 Supermarket.

SM Cinema in North EDSA is one of the finest and profitable cinema in the Philippines.Located in the Second Floor of SM Main Bldg and the Block, SM Cinemas North EDSA proved that they are the best of all the cinemas in the Philippines. SM Cinemas North EDSA is composed of 12 digital and modern cinemas with a total of 20,000 sitting capacity.

This the newest building of the mall complex. It houses the SM Hypermart on the ground level, upscale shops on the 2nd-4th levels, Cinemas 1-4 on the 4th level, a fitness club on the 5th level, trendy specialty restaurants spread on each floors and some of the SM group's anchor stores. From its perfect interior acrhitecture, it is the high-end part of the mall complex and was designed by Arquitectonica, the same international architectural firm that designed The Podium, the SM Mall of Asia and Hong Kong's Festival Walk Mall. It is also a part of the ongoing expansion of the mall.

There are ongoing expansion projects in SM North EDSA. The SM Department Store has been modified to match the present day minimalist & stylish design trend of today. US architecture firm Arquitectonica shall be the main designer of the new "SM North Edsa Mall", along with the SM Megamall. Teaser pictures from Arquitectonica's website show that both the Megamall and North EDSA Mall will be designed similarly with lines and cues from the SM Mall of Asia. A Rendering poster of the firm's Redevelopment plan has been put up infront of the SM Annex showing the immense facade redevelopment and the building's exterior architecture including the Main (Original) Building. SM City North EDSA shall house the country's next IMAX Theater, and eventually become the largest mall in the Philippines and in the world.
