From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sal Sunseri (born February 27, 1959) was an all-American linebacker at the University of Pittsburgh from 1978-1981. During his tenure at Pitt, Sunseri was a three year starter and anchored a defense that led the NCAA in total defense in both 1980 and 1981. During his senior year, Sunseri was named a team captain and all-American. After graduating he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, however he suffered a career ending knee injury during training camp and was cut. At the end of the 1992 season, Sunseri returned to Pitt and served as the interim head coach of the football team. He is currently the defensive line coach for the Carolina Panthers.
