Salak Tinggi is the capital of Sepang district in the state of Selangor, Malaysia. It has a suburb called Kota Warisan to the west, which is home to the Salak Tinggi Station where the KLIA Transit Express Rail Link (ERL) from KLIA to KL Central stops every half-hourly. Salak Tinggi is also known as the Airport City.

Salak Tinggi is home to the KFC Hatchery, a big latex glove factory complex run by Wembley Rubber Products (WRP), the workshop complex of the Engineering Division of the Fire and Rescue Department, the Veterinary Public Health Laboratory of the Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia as well as the Technology Incubation Centre and National Metrology Laboratory for the Standards and Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM).

WRP is the world’s leading manufacturer of premium quality private brand medical and contamination control glove products. SIRIM's Technology Incubation Centre initiates and nurtures new technology ventures in the advanced industrial technologies. Starting at the ideation process, it picks winning ideas and turns them into promising start-ups. The core activities include fund raising, market access, technology transfer, technology search and technology licensing. The state-of-art National Metrology Laboratory (NML), located in Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Sepang, Selangor is empowered by the Weights and Measures Act 1972 to be the country's Custodian of Weights and Measures. NML is also the keeper of Malaysia's Primary Physical Standards of Measurement.

There is a Pos Malaysia post office in Salak Tinggi as well as a recently-opened Pejabat Pos Mini Kota Warisan at Wisma Azlan, 6 Jalan Airport City 2, Airport City Business Centre, Kota Warisan, 43900 SEPANG. As Kota Warisan is the nearest housing estate to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, its residents comprise of mainly airport ground staff and airline crew, who find the proximity to the Salak Tinggi Station a great boon for commuting to work.

Salak Tinggi is inundated annually by motorsports fans when it hosts the Formula-1 Malaysian Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). Most travellers stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Concorde Inn, Cyberview Lodge, Empress Hotel or De Palma Inn although the recently-opened Transit Service Centre budget hotel at the Airport City Business Centre is becoming increasingly popular due its proximity to the Salak Tinggi ERL Station where there is a twice-hourly KLIA Transit service to KLIA and KL Central. The Transit Service Centre budget hotel is very popular with the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) passengers who are generally more price-sensitive.
