Salford Quays

Salford Quays (sometimes branded as The Quays) is an area of Greater Manchester near the end of the Manchester Ship Canal, in North West England, previously known as Manchester Docks before the decline of surrounding industry and subsequent urban regeneration.
It is also home to a joint tourism initiative between Salford City Council and Trafford Borough Council supported by private sector partners The Lowry, Imperial War Museum North, Manchester United F.C., Lancashire County Cricket Club, the Lowry Outlet Mall, the Golden Tulip and the Copthorne Hotel working in partnership with Marketing Manchester.
The main offices and studios of Smooth FM 100.4 are at Exchange Quay, with 105.4 Century FM and XFM Manchester based on the Waterfront Quay. The Anchorage is a complex of several buildings home to BUPA (large presence), Barclaycard and the Royal Bank of Scotland.
In 2011, the area will become home to several departments of the BBC, marking a major decentralisation of the corporation's operations from London. To accommodate this, a major new mediacity:uk will be built on land currently owned by Peel Holdings. The development is expected to attract myriad media, broadcasting, and filmmaking companies to the area.
