Sally Louise Fletcher (née Keating) is the longest-serving fictional character in the Australian soap Home and Away, portrayed by actress Kate Ritchie.
Sally’s parents were killed in a boating accident when she was only three years old and Sally lived with her grandmother for a short time, but her foster mother, Pippa Ross (Debra Lawrance), is the only mother she has ever known.
When Pippa moved to Queensland, Sally felt that she needed to go with her, but as her friends were in Summer Bay and she had just begun her archaeology course at university, she decided to stay.
Sally was once a conscientious, serious person, but as she matured and achieved fulfilment in life, she has become a mother figure and role model and is an integral part of the Summer Bay community, both to other characters and to viewers. In 2005, Pippa bought the Summer Bay Caravan Park for Sally and her family.
Sally is currently the Assistant Principal of Summer Bay High School and is a history teacher. Sally has recently begun a relationship with fellow teacher Brad Armstrong (Chris Sadrinna), following the death of her husband, Flynn Saunders (Joel McIlroy), in February 2006. She also has two foster children, Ric Dalby (Mark Furze) and Cassie Turner (Sharni Vinson). Sally is currently recovering from a stab ordeal for which Johnny Cooper and his gang were responsible.
