Samuel Archibald Anthony Hinds (born December 27, 1943) is a Guyanese politician who has been Prime Minister of Guyana since 1999.

He was Prime Minister under Cheddi Jagan, who died in March 1997. He then became President himself, but resigned in December of that year, in favour of Janet Jagan, Cheddi's widow, who become president and in turn appointed him Prime Minister. Prior to this Hinds worked for Alcan, as the head of Chemical Engineering. By education, Hinds is a licensed and qualified Chemical Engineer.

In August 1999, Jagan decided to resign, and temporarily replaced Hinds with Bharrat Jagdeo, resigned, then Jagdeo automatically became president and reappointed Hinds as Prime Minister.

After the re-election of the government in the August 28, 2006 election, Hinds was sworn in as prime minister again in early September. [1]
