Sam Malin

Sam Malin (born 29 September 1963) is a Canadian businessman based in Madagascar. Malin founded Madagascar Oil in 2004 with Robert Nelson, Alan Bond (businessman) and Michael Smith. Malin is the originator of the company's projects: the development of giant onshore heavy oil fields (Bemolanga and Tsimiroro) and exploration for onshore conventional oil and gas in Madagascar with which he was first involved in 1994.

After graduating in Applied Geophysics from Queen’s University, Canada, Malin joined Dome Petroleum as a geophysicist. He later undertook post graduate studies at Cambridge University in England before joining the Energy Group of international consultants Arthur D. Little in London. Since then, Malin has worked for Standard & Poor's DRI and has carried out a variety of advisory and analytical roles under a number of EU energy sector programmes.
