Sam Nixon

Sam Nixon (born 21 March 1986) is a UK pop singer and television presenter. He came third on the Pop Idol television series in 2003. He was a catering student from Barnsley College in South Yorkshire, England. He attended Holgate School, Barnsley from 1997 to 2002, where he formed a band Fareview with friends.

Nixon and fellow Pop Idol finalist Mark Rhodes had a #1 hit in the United Kingdom with their cover of With a Little Help from My Friends, originally performed by The Beatles. Their second single 'The Sun Has Come Your Way' debuted in the UK top 40 at #19, however they were dropped from their record deal after this release.

Nixon began a television presenting career, co-hosting Top of the Pops Reloaded, before forming a presentational double-act on the BAFTA winning CBBC show Level Up, with Mark Rhodes, which started on the 3rd April, 2006 (and ended on 1st September, 2006). Their new children's Saturday morning show, TMi, started on BBC Two on September 16, with the series finishing on February 3rd 2007. Sam & Mark's new show Do Something Different starts on BBC Two on 2nd April 2007 and will be broadcast during the school Easter and summer Holidays.

Nixon is an 'out' homosexual. Since his very brief fling with fellow broadcaster and pop-star Mark Rhodes, Sam has ben in a long-term relationship with music producer Danton Supple. The couple are planning a civil ceremony towards the end of 2007.
