Sanford E. Church

Sanford E. Church (April 18, 1815 - May 13, 1880) was an American lawyer and politician. Church served as Lieutenant Governor of New York, from 1851 to 1854, and as New York state comptroller, from 1858 to 1859. He also served as Chief Justice of the New York Supreme Court from 1870 to 1880.
While still serving as Chief Justice, Church died suddenly in Albion, New York, where he had gone to spend a three-week vacation. He is buried in the Mt. Albion Cemetery in Albion, Orleans County.
