Schmallenberg is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the middle of the Sauerland (Rothaargebirge). Population: 26,516 (2005). Area: 302 km². It belongs to the district Hochsauerland. It is situated approximately 25 kilometres south of Meschede, and 120 kilometres from Köln (Cologne).

Schmallenberg is twinned with Burgess Hill in England and Wimereux in France.
