Serangoon Junior College (SRJC) is a junior college in Singapore, offering a two-year course for pre-university students leading up to GCE 'A' Level examinations.
SRJC was established in 1988 as the 14th Junior College in Singapore. The college was located at temporary premises in Hougang before moving to its present campus along Upper Serangoon Road in December 1990. On 29 May 1992, the College was officially declared open by the then Minister for Education and MP for Cheng San GRC, Mr Lee Yock Suan.
Since establishment, the college has endorsed the concept of a well-rounded education by offering quality, value-added pre-university experiences to her students. The college aims to nurture every SRJCian into confident and accomplished individual. With balanced emphasis on academic excellence, CCA achievements, leadership training and character building, every experience- whether within or outside the classroom- becomes a learning experience for students.

As a component of the integral education system of Singapore, Serangoon Junior College sees that it is of utmost importance to cultivate all rounded, resourceful, skillful and dedicated individuals whom will be an asset to the society, the country and of mankind. The Motto of the college is a constant reminder to the students on the importance of learning and serving.
To be an organisation that champions the passionate pursuit of learning within an environment of compassion and care.
To develop independent learners and responsible, caring leaders with the resourcefulness and perseverance to meet future challenges.

It is mandatory for SRJCians to sing the school song every Monday during the morning assembly period. The School song is sung after the Singapore's National Anthem and the National Pledge in full formal attire (which includes the tie and belt for both male and female students).
As part of the all rounded education which Serangoon Junior college offers, there are five core values in which are highly regarded by the college. These values had been a part of the school's culture since the birth of our young college and they are :
CARE, INTEGRITY, PERSEVERANCE, RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT.
The most significant value of the school is "Care". A huge banner which states "We Care" is hung near the concourse of the school. The college believes that everyone matters. This belief is actualised in our teachers' dedicated efforts to help SRJCians excel in both academic and co-curricular pursuits. Our proactive student leaders are also indispensable in promoting an enriching and learning environment for their enthusiastic peers. This winning formula of dedication, initiative and enthusiasm has been and will continue to be Serangoon Junior College's key to success.
Serangoon Junior College is housed on a 6-hectare piece of land along Upper Serangoon Road. Its building is based on a top-prize winning design of 39 entries at the Junior College Design Competition held in 1987. Being the latest junior college to be set up then, the SRJC campus embodies the best features of all other previously built junior colleges in Singapore and costs about S$30 million to build.

The College was the first junior college to complete its upgrading project. The Media Resource Library, track facilities, General Office and Staff Rooms have been beautifully refurbished. New additions such as additional classrooms, IT Rooms, a 600-seater Auditorium, a Students' Lounge, a cafe and an air-conditioned Study Area augment the already-comprehensive range of facilities. The college is the only junior college among the 600 Wifi hot spots that are under Wireless@SG in 2006. There are several locations in the campus where users can go online wirelessly for free. Our students can thus conduct online research and access our e-learning platform, ASPIRE, conveniently.
In 2004, the school spent a total sum of 2 million dollars on another round of upgrading of the school's facilities. Extensive upgrading were done in the canteen, the numerous sport facilities within the campus (rock climbing bouldering wall, soccer field, volleyball court), all the 5 Lecture Theatres and the Toilets. The Media Resource Library as of 2006 also includes a computer room for wireless internet surfing. The two-and-a-half Tennis Courts were renovated and expanded in August 2005 where a court draining network was installed.
The college underwent a paint job in 2005, making the school grounds more vibrant. The whole campus has walls which are painted with motifs, patterns and drawings by various groups of students as a CCA or class. The most prominent walls which have these special paintings are outside the canteen, under a project entitled 'Walls of Hope'.
The college hall also underwent semi-renovation in June 2006 and became fully air-conditioned. The air-conditioned study area was fully renovated to become a multi-purpose area used mainly for studying, seminars, exhibitions etc. Towards the end of 2006, all the lecture theatres were again renovated and equipped with new seats and teaching equipments.
These structural upgrades were conducted as part of the college's effort to provide her students an excellent environment for both academic and non-academic pursuits.
A course consists of H1 General Paper, H1 Mother Tongue, H1 Project Work together with 3 or 4 H2 subjects. Students with higher abilities may be offered subjects at H3 level. Students are placed in 2 streams of studies, namely the Arts Stream or the Science Stream. Various courses are offered in both streams. In line with the new 'A' Level syallbus lined out by MOE, students from both streams are also required to take a contrasting subject that is outside their area of studies. A student from the Arts Stream is required to study a H1 subject from the Science Stream and vice versa. Knowledge & Inquiry at H2 level is considered a contrasting subject for both streams.
