Sevogle River

The Sevogle River has its origins in the Big Bald Mountain area of the Miramichi Highlands in north-central Northumberland County. Generally flowing southeast through heavy forests, the Sevogle River joins the Northwest Miramichi River at the Big Hole Tract, I.R. No. 8 several kilometres northeast of Redbank, where the Northwest Miramichi River joins the Little Southwest Miramichi River. The river is noted for Atlantic Salmon fishing, and one of the major salmon pools near the mouth of the river was leased and controlled for many years by the Colgate family of the United States. The annual run of Atlantic salmon occurs from mid-June through late September of each summer and early fall. Angling for Atlantic salmon is restricted to fly fishing only and all large salmon must be released.
