Seyi George Olofinjana (born June 30, 1980) is a Nigerian football player. He started his professional football career at FC Crown Ogbomoso, and later moved on to play in the Nigerian Premier league for Kwara United FC of Ilorin. He led them to play in the African Champions league before leaving for Norway. He is a graduate of Chemical Engineering from the Ladoke Akintola University Of Technology, Ogbomoso, and was instrumental in many successes of the University Football Team during his undergraduate days. He was also a member of the Nigerian National Team, the Super Eagles, that won Bronze at the African Cup of Nations hosted by Tunisia in 2004.
A midfielder, he moved from Norwegian club Brann to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a £1.7 million deal in July 2004. A Nigeria international, he also attracted interest from FC København [1], Rosenborg [2], Monaco and Auxerre.
Seyi had been having a difficult time in England, struggling for consistency and a regular berth in the Wolves starting line-up. He is 6ft 4in frame dwarfing most other midfielders. He had been missing from the first-team squad since October 2005 due to a back injury, which caused his absence from the African Cup of Nations in January 2006. Seyi found his form in the 2006/07 season, however, and was described by many Wolves fans as a 'new player'. He was able to hold a vital role in central midfield from which he scored goals regularly, finishing as the club's top goalscorer in the 2006/07 season.
Seyi was missing from the official team photo at the start of the 2007/08 season. This led to rumours that he was leaving the club, only for it to be announced that he was sitting exams as part of his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering. He continued his goalscoring exploits by netting in the final pre-season friendly and getting the only Wolves goal in the 2-1 defeat by Watford on the opening day of the season. He recentley signed an extension of his current contract which will see him stay with Wolves until 2011.
