The Shah Alam Expressway, SAE, E 5 (Malay: Lebuhraya Shah Alam) is part of a comprehensive network of road links in the Klang Valley . It connects from Pandamaran in Klang, Selangor to Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. Shah Alam Expressway is the third east-west-oriented expressway in the Klang Valley after the Federal Highway and New Klang Valley Expressway.

The purposed to built the Shah Alam Expressway began on 1993 when the Federal Highway had become a busing traffic during rush hour from/to Kuala Lumpur. Construction began in 1995. The Phase 1 (Seafield-Sri Petaling) was completed on 1996 and the Phase 2 (Seafield-Pandamaran) was completed on 1998. During 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, the expressway had become a main route to National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil.

Since 1 July 2004, the EXPRESS TAG electronic payment system has been replaced by Touch 'n Go and Smart TAG electronic payment systems.
