Shani Andras (シャニ・アンドラス Shani Andorasu?) is a fictional character from the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, voiced by Shunichi Miyamoto in the Japanese dub of the series and Richard Ian Cox in the English dub.

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Shani Andras, along with Orga Sabnak and Clotho Buer, is one of the three "Living CPUs" assigned to operate the Earth Alliance's new Gundam mobile suits. As with his comrades, his personal data has been erased from the military's records. Before he goes into battle, Shani takes a special performance-enhancing drug known as Gamma Glipheptin; if he goes without this drug for extended periods, he suffers from extreme withdrawal symptoms. While piloting his GAT-X252 Forbidden, the antisocial Shani prefers to fight alone without his teammates interfering, and between missions he puts on his headphones and blocks out the outside world by listening to music. Shani was killed by Yzak Joule during the Second Battle of Jachin Due, when his GAT-X252 Forbidden was destroyed by Yzak's GAT-X102 Duel Gundam.

  • The character's given name matches the name of the celestial being Shani, one of the nine Navagraha in Hindu astrology. His surname matches that of a demon, Andras. [1]
  • Shani's hair, which usually covers the left side of his face, conceals the fact that his eyes are different colors.
  • Phase-44 shows that Shani may be the most mentally unstable of the three Extendeds, as he constantly fires on Athrun and Kira despite orders to retreat; he even goes as far as to attack his own teammates in the process.
