Sharon D. Clarke

Sharon D. Clarke is a British actress and singer popularly known for her role in the UK medical drama Holby City, in which she plays the role of Lola Griffin, a doctor with ancestors from Ghana. Another notable television role is the character of Gran'Ma Flosse in the CBBC show The Crust.

Sharon is also noted for her West End theatre work. She has played many roles, including Guys and Dolls(1996) as General Cartwright, Rent(1998) as Joanne Jefferson, Fame(1999) playing Miss Sherman, Rafiki in The Lion King from 2000-2002 and in 2004 played the character of Matron Mama Morton in Chicago. Sharon originated the role of Killer Queen in the Ben Elton/Queen jukebox musical We Will Rock You.

Sharon has also achieved chart success with the FPI Project's remake of Going Back To My Roots and in Nomad with the single (I Wanna Give You) Devotion, the latter of which sold over two million singles worldwide.

Sharon was also part of the female vocal group Sixchix, formed for the Eurovision Song Contest 2000. They came second in the UK selection with the song 'Only The Women Know' written by Katrina and The Waves member Kimberley Rew. They were beaten by Nikki French singing 'Don't Play That Song Again' which went on to Stockholm to finish 16th.
