Shaukat Hayat Khan b.1915 d.199 ?

Shaukat Hayat Khan was a prominent Muslim League movement worker who worked closely with the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in the Punjab. Hailing from Wah in Attock, he served in the Indian Army at the beginning of World War II and was elected to the Punjab Assembly after his father (Sir Sikander Hyat Khan, Chief Minister of Punjab). He served as Minister for Public works in the Unionist Muslim League government. Dismissed in 1944 for his increasingly pro Jinnah policies, he was subsequently elected deputy leader of the Punjab League. Re-elected in 1946, he became a prominent activist in the Muslim League direct action campaign.

Elected again from Attock in the 1970 general elections, he played a key role in the opposition negotiations with Zulfiqar Bhutto which led to the passage of Pakistan's first interim constitution.
