The Sherbrooke Street Foundation is a family philanthropy "committed to assisting individuals and organizations engaged in results-oriented initiatives related to poverty and social inequality, homelessness, and public health in Canada and the United States," according to its web site. The trust is based in Boston, Toronto and Vancouver and administered by the descendants of John Baker, a 19th century political activist and sawmill owner who founded the village of Baker Brook, New Brunswick.

The foundation supports a broad range of programs that aim to strengthen communities by empowering individuals. In addition to major grant making programs, Sherbrooke also provides grants to university students engaged in original research activities that fit within the organization’s mission.

Established in 1951 by Canadian-American entrepreneur Thomas J. White (1919-2004), the Sherbrooke Street Foundation is committed to assisting individuals and organizations engaged in results-oriented initiatives related to poverty and social inequality, homelessness, and public health in Canada and the United States.
