Homemade shotguns

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is referred to homemade weapons made by "low budget" criminals.Usually found in criminal places, jails, etc.

Definition: A homemade shotgun or "tumbera" is a firearm made with practically no money and with homemade articles like nails, steel pipes, wooden pieces, bits of string, etc.

History: In the begginning of the new century (2000 onwards) Argentina suffered an economical failure leadind to riots and "cacerolazos". The "rioters" mainly poor-working people had no intention of fight, but the cops didn't get the message and many innocent people died. This led the people to arm themselves in with whatever they could find.

Terminology: The term "tumbero" regards not only the firearm, it regards many things: the people who wield the homemade weapons, and regards too to other kinds of homemade weapons like clubs and knives. Another term used is "caserita/ito"

Common design: The common design of a homemade shotgun is: One curved steel pipe, a piece of wood with a nail in the centre and a longer steel pipe with a smaller diameter than the curved one. The piece of wood goes inside the curved pipe with the nail pointing to the tip of the pipe, then the other pipe is put inside the curved one(that's why it has to be smaller), the nail makes as a trigger.

Operating it: First you should put a 12-gauge shotgun shell in the longer pipe, then place the pipe into the curved pipe and pull the longer pipe into the curved one, that way the Shell will detonate firing the gun.
