List of certain important political and civil figures during World War II:

  • Osachi Hamaguchi: Prime Minister who replaced Prime Minister Tanaka
  • Tomeo Sagoya: the assassin of Prime Minister Osachi Hamaguchi. He was a member of Aikoku-sha (Love of Country Association)
  • Reiijiro Wakatsuki: Prime Minister who replaced Hamaguchi
  • Kei Hara: Commoner and liberal thinker of the Seiyukai party, came to be Prime Minister.
  • Kaku Mori: a Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs
  • Yosuke Matsuoka: Foreign Affairs Minister
  • Prince Fumimaro Konoye: Prime Minister, founder of Dobunkai Secret society
