Silverjet is a British airline that flies daily from London Luton Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport, New York.

Its cabins are business class, like those of Eos Airlines and MAXjet Airways and include flat beds (made by Sicma Aeroseat), preordered meals, and in-flight entertainment. Customers can reach the airport via a wide range of offered transportation options, such as by helicopter, chauffeur service, valet parking, and taxi.

Flyjet Limited, trading as Silverjet, holds a United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority Type A Operating Licence, and is permitted to carry passengers, cargo and mail on aircraft with 20 or more seats. ^[1]

Silverjet Aviation Limited was created in 2004 by Lawrence Hunt. On 10 April 2006, Silverjet announced that it would seek admission to AIM, a market operated by the London Stock Exchange. A month later in May it announced that it had secured £25.3 million from investors making it ready to launch services within six to nine months. The money also allowed it to start trading on AIM. On 11 August 2006, Silverjet secured two Boeing 767-200 aircraft from British airline Thomsonfly. These aircraft will be delivered no later than 31 March 2007, and 31 October 2007, respectively. It also secured lease rights to two other aircraft of the same make and model from Novus Aviation Limited.

In October 2006, Silverjet acquired the British low-cost airline Flyjet. Flyjet lease 2 Boeing 757 aircraft from Skylease who were also acquired through the deal. The acquisition of Flyjet reduces competition for Silverjet on the London - New York route. Flyjet also has a Boeing 767 on lease but it has yet to enter service. The 767 will be used as Silverjet's launch aircraft. Through this acquisition, Silverjet also receives Flyjet's Air Operator’s Certificate, Operating Licence and a worldwide Route Licence.

On 12 October 2006, Silverjet's website began booking passengers for flights, for a standard fare of £999. On 25 January 2007, Silverjet began scheduled flights to Newark from London.

Silverjet has claimed that it wishes to become the first "carbon neutral" airline in the world; passengers will be subject to a mandatory carbon offset contribution to be reinvested in climate-friendly projects. In an interview with the Financial Times on 25 January 2007, Lawrence Hunt said: "It's no use people just sitting around thinking about climate change and pretending it is someone elses problem. That is what the airline business has done to date."

The Institute of Transport Management announced on 24 January 2007, that Silverjet is to be the recipient if its "Environmentally Aware Airline 2007" award in recognition of the stance the company has taken regarding carbon emissions. The award is to be presented at an Institute awards function in April 2007.

Silverjet's only destination is Newark Liberty International Airport, with one daily flight.
