Simon Davey (born 1 October 1970 in Swansea) is the manager of Barnsley. As a player he was a midfielder at Swansea City, Carlisle United, Preston North End and Darlington. He started his managerial career off with a 1-0 win over Ipswich Town and then three days later, a 2-0 win over Southend United. He was appointed as Barnsley's full time manager on December 31, 2006, after a spell as caretaker manager.
As a footballer, his successes including two Division Three titles with Carlisle in 1995 and Preston a year later.
Simon is also one of the most qualified young coaches in the country, he holds the UEFA C Licence, the UEFA B Licence, the UEFA A Licence and he completed his UEFA Pro Licence in 2005. He also holds the Academy Managers licence and the UEFA Youth Licence.
So far as the Barnsley F.C. manager, he has signed some poor unknown players such as, Ronnie Wallwork, István Ferenczi, Lewin Nyatanga and Grant McCann are just some of the players he has signed.
