Simon Grand (born on 23 February 1984 in Chorley) is football player for Grimsby Town and plays in defence. On 20 December, 2005, playing for Carlisle United in the Football League Trophy he scored the match winning penalty (despite suffering from cramp) in 11-10 penalty shoot out thriller where everybody except one Tranmere player scored. However, despite his heroics, Grand found it hard to get ahead of Kevin Gray and Danny Livesey in the centre back position. Grand started his career at Rochdale while there he won the young player of the year award. On January 9, 2007, Grand joined Grimsby Town on loan until the end of the 2006-07 season. He then made the move permanent after 3 days of joining Grimbsy Town, and playing one match for The Mariners.
