Sixth Form Certificate

Sixth Form Certificate was a former New Zealand secondary school qualification gained at the end of Form 6 (Year 12) which was awarded until 2002. The system was assessed internally.

Students were awarded "1" for "an excellent level of achievement" in a subject down to "9" for low levels of achievement. The amount of 1s, 2s, 3s etc available for allocation to students were based on the school's previous year's School Certificate results. These grades were then allocated to the students.

NZQA's website indicates the following distribution of grades:

      2               next  6%
      3                ..  10%
      4                ..  17%
      5                ..  22%
      6                ..  22%
      7                ..  12%
      8                ..   6%
      9                ..   1%

SFC has been replaced by the National Certificate of Educational Achievement at level 2.
