Sky Angel was a multi-channel, direct-to-home satellite television and radio service specializing in Christian and "family-friendly" programming. It is owned and operated by Dominion Video Satellite Inc., a direct broadcast satellite (DBS) licensee with corporate headquarters in Naples, Florida. Sky Angel provides Christian-oriented and some general channels that it deems suitable for its format. Because of its stated purpose and clean television programming, Sky Angel has been given a seal of approval by the Parents Television Council.

Dominion, under the former corporate name Video Satellite Systems, Inc., was one of the first nine companies to apply to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a high-power DBS license in 1981 and is the sole surviving DBS provider from that first round of applicants. Dish Network and DirecTV later acquired their DBS licenses, and Dominion subsequently formed a technical agreement with DISH Network where Sky Angel subscribers utilize the Dish-brand equipment to receive the Sky Angel service. Dish and Sky Angel operate independently of one another, however, their agreement enables individuals to subscribe to both services using the same satellite receiving equipment.

On Sept 28, 2007 the FCC approved Sky Angel's (Dominion) sale of its satellite transponder licenses to Dish Network (Echostar). Dominion plans to move the Sky Angel service to an internet protocol based TV (IPTV) system. This new system allows subscribers to receive Sky Angel programming using a romte controlled set-top box connected to a broad-band internet connection (Cable or DSL). The equipment can be connected to a variety of devices to view programmings, such as television sets, HDTVs, personal computers, handheld/pocket PCs and laptops. When the transition is completed, Sky Angel will no longer broadcast over satellite equipment.

As of this writing, Dominion has not made any announcements regarding the status of current monthly and pre-paid subscriptions once the change to the new broadcast delivery format is complete.

Sky Angel presently offers 33 TV and radio channels including 3 original channels produced by Dominion Sky Angel:

Angel One offers a variety of inspirational and political programming, most of which reflect Sky Angel's support of conservative fundamentalist evangelical Christianity. Several shows, with hosts such as David Reagan and Hal Lindsey, attempt to translate current events into biblical prophecy. Other programs encourage political activism on the part of conservative Christians. Topics covered on the Angel One shows include abortion, gay marriage, and even witchcraft.

Angel Two carries special programming such as documentaries and coverage of religious gatherings. Angel Two has covered all three Justice Sundays, meetings of the Promise Keepers and Vision America, and has aired annual autumn specials such as Halloween Exposed and Harry Potter: Witchcraft Repackaged.

Sky Angel's other channels include The Liberty Channel, the Gospel Music Channel, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Faith TV, Cornerstone Television, Total Living Network, FOX News Channel, Hallmark Channel, HGTV and TVU, Spirit Music Television and others, as well as several radio stations, including Moody Broadcasting Network and WAY-FM.

Sky Angel should not be confused with British Sky Broadcasting in the UK -- neither they nor its parent, News Corporation, own any interest in Sky Angel, besides FOX News.
