Skye Edwards

Skye Edwards (born May 1974 as Shirley Klarisse Yonavive Edwards) is an English singer, born in south east London. Until 2003, she was the lead singer of the band Morcheeba. Edwards decided to shorten her name to Skye by taking the first letter of each of her names and putting them together. She has sung on two charity collaborations, Perfect Day 1997, in aid of BBC Children in Need and Band Aid 20, in 2004, in aid of famine relief in Sudan, Africa. Edwards has two children, a son and a daughter.

Upon leaving Morcheeba, Edwards was replaced by Daisy Martey (formerly of Noonday Underground) as the band's vocalist. (Martey, despite her obvious talents, developed irreconcilable differences with the Godfrey Brothers. She toured briefly following the release of their first album with her, The Antidote, her place being taken by Jody Sternberg.)

Skye Edwards is signed to Atlantic Records UK. Her debut solo album, Mind How You Go was released on February 27th, 2006 in Europe, the first single Love show was big radio hit throughout Europe[citation needed]. It has also been featured on the American television drama Grey's Anatomy on Season 3, Episode 13: Great Expectations [1]. The UK release was at the end of the summer. The single planned would be What's Wrong With Me. There is a video's available on her MySpace site [2]. "People ask what this record means to me, but that's an alien question because I've been living and breathing it," says Skye. "It's not a question of what it means to me. This record is me."

It is expected that her cover of 'Feel Good Inc' will be properly released in the future. Whether as a single or just on a future album is yet to be known. Love Show is also to be released soon in the UK.

Skye has covered the Gorillaz single Feel Good Inc Live on KCRW radio station (along with other classic hits from her album) [3], and also at some live shows; this is also avaible on her MySpace site. The song Tell Me About Your Day was written by Skye when she was touring with Morcheeba in New Orleans in 1998.

Skye's song, Love Show, was featured on a third season episode of Grey's Anatomy.
