IMDb profile

Soul Plane is a comedy motion picture from MGM, released in the United States on May 28, 2004 (see 2004 in film). The predominantly African-American comedy stars Kevin Hart, Method Man, Tom Arnold, Sommore, D.L. Hughley, Mo'Nique, K.D. Aubert, John Witherspoon, Loni Love, Ryan Pinkston, Godfrey, Francine Dee, and Snoop Dogg.

Soul Plane is the story of a man who gets stuck in an aircraft toilet, wins a large settlement from the airline, and decides to use that money to start an airline that caters to African Americans.

A white family is mistakenly booked on Soul Plane's first flight. The father of the family is not generally amused by this, but the rest of the family seems to enjoy the rap music and velvet seats.

The plane they use in this movie is unique. It contains a hip hop club, strippers, and a very posh First Class area. The exterior of the plane is covered in purple velvet and the plane features low-rider hydraulics.

  • Features a "Wilhelm Scream" when Captain Mack puts the plane into a dive.
  • The airline that the Soul Plane is registered under is Nashawn Wade Airlines, whose acronym and logo is a reference to the NWA. Ironically, those are the same three letters displayed prominently on the current fleet of airplanes run by Northwest Airlines & the 80's-90's popular rap group Niggaz With Attitude.
  • The plane flew from Los Angeles To New York.
