Sovereign Center

Sovereign Center is a 7,083-seat multi-purpose arena in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was built in 2001. The arena sits on the former site of the Astor Theatre. Closed in 1975, the theatre sat vacant until it was torn down in 1998 to make room for the arena. It is home to the Reading Royals Ice hockey team and the Reading Express indoor football team. In fall 2007 it will also be home to the Reading Railers of the American Basketball Association's current incarnation. The arena has also hosted major shows and rock concerts such as the Wiggles, Mötley Crüe, Stevie Nicks, The Moody Blues, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Beach Boys, and the 2004 Vote for Change Tour featuring Death Cab for Cutie and Pearl Jam.
