From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • Sportsround is a weekly spin-off from the CBBC children's news programme, Newsround. The main presenter is Jake Humphrey. The main reporters for the programme are Lizzie Greenwood and Adam Fleming. Occasionally guest reporters Ade Adepitan and Iwan Thomas appear on the show. It is a weekly round up of sports news, sports entertainment together with reports, comment, big interviews and viewer polls.
  • Sportsround is the only children's sports television programme in Britain.

The show goes out on BBC Two on Saturday mornings at 11.45 am. The first edition was on 10 September 2005.

The duration of Sportsround is fifteen minutes, but the fast pace makes it an exciting show with a star name every week and a live broadcast from one of the big sporting events of the weekend. It also has an 'Action Replay' file that uses MP4 so it can be played on an MP4 player (for example iPod).

Jake Humphrey has also been noticed by the BBC sport department and has recently become the youngest host in the history of both Football Focus and Match of the Day. He is currently considered as a bright star of the future.

Features of the show include 3 to See - A fun look at the top three sporting events to watch this weekend & 60 seconds - 1 minute guide to whatever Sportsround wants to tell you about!
