The Springfield Cardinals are a minor league baseball team based in Springfield, Missouri. The team, which plays in the Texas League, is the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals major-league club, and is owned by the Cardinals. The club plays at Hammons Field.

The Springfield Cardinals began play in the 2005 season. Prior to the 2005 season, the St. Louis Cardinals Class AA affiliate was the Tennessee Smokies located near Sevierville, Tennessee.

The Springfield Cardinals was also the name of a Single-A Midwest League team that was also an affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals major-league club, only based in Springfield, Illinois. The team played in Lanphier Park on the northside of Springfield. Affectionately known as the "Baby Birds", their chief rival was the Peoria Chiefs, then an affiliate of the Cubs. The condition of Lanphier Park, last renovated in 1978, led to the relocation of the franchise to Madison, Wisconsin for the 1994 season, where they were known as the Madison Hatters.

El Paso Diablos (New logo)

Before the 2005 season, the Cardinals played in El Paso, Texas as the El Paso Diablos, which were affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998-2004. Prior to that, the Diablos had many MLB affiliates, including the Milwaukee Brewers, who preceeded the D'backs. The El Paso Diablos played in the Texas League from 1962, until the team moved to Springfield, Missouri after the 2004 season.
