St. John Bosco High School

St. John Bosco High School (SJBHS) is an all-boys Catholic high school located in Bellflower, California, USA; conducted by the Salesians of St. John Bosco, San Francisco Province. SJBHS is named after Saint John Bosco and was originally founded as an elementary and intermediate boarding school by the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1940. The first high-school class graduated in 1956, and in the late 1970s the boarding school closed.

Today the school is a Catholic high school in the Los Angeles area, and has a student body of approximately 1100 students in grades 9-12.

  • Adam Delgado, graduated in 1995, programming and production for L.A. Radio, 106.7 KROQ.
  • Nomar Garciaparra, signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2005
  • Evan Longoria, Long Beach State infielder who was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays as the third overall pick of the 2006 MLB Draft, graduated in 2003.
  • Joe Cowan who graduated in 2003 and holds numerous school records in track and field as well as football and Patrick Cowan who graduated in 2004 are currently part of the UCLA Bruins' Football program.
  • Brian Panish, a top U.S. trial lawyer who obtained the largest personal injury and product liability verdict ($4.9 billion ) in American history.
  • Dennis Lamp, from 1977 through 1992, Lamp pitched for the Chicago Cubs (1977-80), Chicago White Sox (1981-83), Toronto Blue Jays (1984-86), Oakland Athletics (1987), Boston Red Sox (1988-91) and Pittsburgh Pirates.
  • Roy Alugbue who graduated in 2003 is a 2006 West-Region All-American in Track & Field on the USC Men's Track and Field team.
  • Daniel Hackett, graduated in 2006 currently a point gaurd for The University of Southern Californina [USC] Basketball
