Stan Grossfeld

Stan Grossfeld is a writer, editor, and two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer at The Boston Globe. He was born December 20, 1951, in New York City and graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Professional Photography in 1973. After two years in Newark, New Jersey, at The Star-Ledger he went to work for The Boston Globe. While working at the paper Grossfeld graduated from Boston University with a Master of Journalism degree in 1980. He became chief photographer at the Globe in 1983. The next year he won his first Pulitzer Prize in the category of "Spots News Photography" for photographs of the people of Lebanon. In 1985, he won again when he shared the prize in the "Feature Photography" category for his images of starvation in Ethiopia and illegal aliens on the border of Mexico. Named Associate Editor of the Globe in 1987, Grossfeld photographs many subjects, including sports.
